The VIII International Mining and Metallurgy Congress and the exhibition "Astana Mining and Metallurgy" - AMM-2017 was held on May 25-26 in Astana. Armanbay Jubaev, PwC Advisory Services Director took part in the session "Investment Potential for Exploration", and spoke about finalization of historical works to meet the requirements of foreign investors.
In addition to the session "Investment Potential for Exploration" and the plenary session, there were two more big sessions - "Market Leaders. Development strategies” and “Modernization of industry. Industry 4.0”.
During the AMM, experts discussed the growth of production and development of new products in MMC, ways to overcome the gap of breakthrough innovations in geological exploration, the new subsoil code, attracting investments in geological exploration and other topics.
According to the data provided by Armanbay Jubaev, the crisis of MMC of 2015 ended. In the beginning of 2016, the demand has consistently outperformed forecasts, commodity prices have begun to rise, and this trend has continued in the current year.
However, this is a general trend in the industry; some areas are still experiencing the impact of recession. In general, global analysts predict a way out of the crisis and a rise in prices for 2018-2019.
