On 23 April 2025the Mazhilis approved the draft Law "On Amendments and Additions to Certain Legislative Acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Intellectual Property Issues" (the "Draft Law").

In details

The Draft Law, among others, provides for reduction in the time required for:

  • preliminary examination of trademarks -from one month to 10 business days;
  • full examination of trademarks –up to three months from the date of filing of application.

The Draft Law also introduces amendments to a number oflegislative acts, including the Civil Code, the Law on “Copyright and Related Rights”, and the Law on “Trademarks, Service Marks, Geographical Indications and Appellations of Origin”.
