Online Issuance of Individual Identification Number (IIN) temporarily suspended until 1 October 2022

The online service in e-Gov portal for obtaining Individual Identification Number (IIN) for foreign citizens currently is unavailable due to technical issues. This service will be resumed on 1 October 2022. However, an IIN can be obtained in person when visiting the Public Service Centre.

In detail

To facilitate the identification of individuals, since 2007 Kazakhstan has been using a system for assigning citizens, and foreigners temporarily staying in Kazakhstan individual identification numbers (IIN).

Foreign citizens must obtain an IIN in the following cases: 

  • on appointment as the head of a resident legal entity of Kazakhstan or the head of a branch of a non-resident legal entity 
  • opening a bank account in RK (Republic of Kazakhstan) 
  • receiving income from sources located in RK 
  • acquiring taxable property 
  • upon employment in RK

A foreign individual, KZ tax resident, who receives foreign income,as well as KZ citizen and foreign individual with a KZ residence permit, who has a foreign property located outside of RK,is required to submit a tax return Form 240.00 annually no later than March 31 of the year following the reporting.
