Kazakhstan is under a state of emergency

In brief 

The President of Kazakhstan, Mr. Qassym-Jomart Tokayev signed the decrees on introduction of a State of Emergency in all regions of Kazakhstan for the period from 5 January 2022 till 19 January 2022.

In details 

According to the decrees of the President, in all regions of the country there are: 

  • curfew from 23:00 to 07:00; 
  • commandant's offices, headed by the chiefs of the police, are being created; 
  • restrictions on freedom of movement, including vehicles, are established; 
  • limited entry to and exit from each region; 
  • conducting document checks, personal searches, inspection of things and vehicles; 
  • mass events are prohibited; 
  • sale of weapons and ammunition is prohibited, a special regime has been established for the circulation of drugs and alcohol; 
  • weapons and ammunition will be temporarily confiscated from residents for the period of the state of emergency. 

In order to ensure security in Kazakhstan, a temporary restriction on access to the internet has been introduced.
