Kazakhstan adopted amendments on the work of women in heavy working conditions

Special edition №102

In brief

The Law of Kazakhstan dated October 12, 2021 No. 67-VII "On Amendments and Additions to Certain Legislative Acts of Kazakhstan on Social Protection of Certain Categories of Citizens" ("Law") amends the Labor Code of Kazakhstan. For example, the list of works restricted for women and the provision prohibiting the employment of women in heavy work has been excluded.

In details

The law introduced a number of changes to the Labor Code of Kazakhstan. The change mainly affected the elimination of discrimination in labor relations of women on the gender basis. Thus, the list of works restricted for women has been excluded in the Labor Code of Kazakhstan.

Also, the Law excludes a provision, according to which the employment of women for heavy work, work with harmful and (or) dangerous working conditions was previously prohibited.

In addition, the Law amended the part of changing the age of children with disabilities from 16 to 18 years, according to which it is prohibited to engage employees who raise such children to work on night shifts.

The changes are effective from 26 October 2021.
