PwC Jamaica continues to foster and encourage the youth while giving back during their annual Christmas event

Kingston, Jamaica, 15 December 2017 –Some 226 students at the St. Michael's Primary and Infant School were treated with Christmas gifts and holiday cheer today from employees of PwC Jamaica during the firm’s annual gift of giving event. A cheque in the amount of $65,000 was also handed over to purchase a Public Address System for the school.

Leighton McKnight, Territory Leader, PwC Jamaica explained: “At PwC, we believe we have a responsibility to give back to the community. One of the ways we do this is by utilising our skills and resources where they'll have the greatest lasting benefit for our communities."

"Our annual St. Michael’s Christmas event is important to us at PwC in Jamaica as it’s our way to demonstrate our strong commitment to helping those in our communities most vulnerable, especially the children. It’s part of our core values to care and to work together – and in this case towards a positive development of our youth."

“At PwC, we've identified that our overall purpose is to build trust in society and solve important problems and now more than ever, many Jamaican students need our support. So it’s imperative we empower our youth by being there and giving back – that’s is why our staff members don’t just donate the gifts but also show up and spend the day with the students talking and sharing with them in addition to providing ongoing support to the school– this by example help these young students to recognise their own potential and to realize their dreams,” Mr. McKnight added.

As per each year, for the last 15 years, PwC employees adopt  children from the St Michael Primary and Infant School, aged five to 12, with each child receiving an early Christmas gift, taking part in reading sessions and have all-around good cheer.
