Territory Leader, PwC Jamaica; Caribbean Regional Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Leader and Regional Consumer and Industrial Products Leader
Leighton is currently the territory leader and markets’ leader for PwC Jamaica and has over thirty-five (35) years’ experience working in the audit, accounting and financial consulting industries. He is very experienced in conducting audits of statutory companies and large conglomerates. Leighton is also currently responsible for a number of our firm’s major audit clients including Kingston Wharves Group and Supreme Ventures Group.
He is well known in Jamaica as a leader in the promotion of good corporate governance especially in the public sector where up to recently he was the chairman of the Government of Jamaica Audit Commission that oversees the internal audit functions of all Government Ministries, Executive Agencies and Departments.
Leighton is a past president of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Jamaica, past Director/Secretary of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of the Caribbean; and he is a distinguished past Lieutenant Governor and distinguished past president of the Kiwanis International Movement in Jamaica. He is the chairman of the Independent Commission for the Judiciary for Jamaica responsible for recommending emoluments for members of the higher judiciary and parish courts and is a former member of Jamaica’s Parliamentary Integrity Commission and a former ACCA International Assembly Representative for Jamaica.
In 2013 he was awarded the Order of Distinction in the rank of Commander for distinguished service in public service, philanthropy and community service by the Government of Jamaica. In 2017 he was the recipient of the prestigious ICAJ Distinguished Member Award.
Leighton holds a BSc Honours Degree in Management Studies from the University of the West Indies and is a fellow of both the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Jamaica (ICAJ).
