How do I qualify as a Chartered Accountant?
You will enter into a training contract which lasts for three years. During this time, you will study for the exams set by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, whilst gaining top quality work experience.
What exam support do I get during my training contract?
We will pay for the examination and tuition costs, including paid study leave, for your first sitting of each stage of the exams. We use an excellent organisation of professional exam tutors based in North Wales and will also meet the transportion and accommodation costs.
How will you help me develop my work skills?
Our methodology is based upon working in teams, in which the more experienced members of the team coach the junior team members, guiding them towards meeting, and exceeding, their objectives. A mixture of traditional teaching methods and computer based training is used to reinforce learning. We invest heavily in training believing that our people are our greatest asset
What class of degree do I need to join PwC?
You should aim to achieve a 2:1 or better. The Institute exams are very demanding, and candidates who do not attain high grades at degree level or earlier will struggle to qualify.
Does my degree need to be in accountancy or maths?
No. Whilst elements of a relevant degree will undoubtedly help you through your exams, any suitably academic subject is acceptable.
How much will I use computers at work?
All ABAS staff are issued with laptop computers on which all our work is documented. My Client, a Lotus Notes based application developed by our international firm, is used along with Microsoft Office to plan, control and record our procedures.
What if I do not qualify as an Isle of Man worker?
Non Isle of Man workers can only be employed on obtaining a work permit. To obtain a work permit it is necessary to prove that no suitable Isle of Man workers were available. Please apply in the usual way, ticking the work permit required option.
When should I apply?
You may apply at any time, but don't delay - spaces on our graduate trainee programme are extremely limited and competition is tough. Early application is recommended.
