Tax Partner Roselle Caraig opened the seminar with an engaging message, warmly welcoming nearly 300 tax and finance professionals. Tax Director Maria Jonas Yap, as master of ceremonies, then introduced the speakers for each segment.
In the first segment, Tax Partner Floredee Odulio highlighted key aspects of the 2025 annual income tax return (ITR). She offered a comprehensive overview of income taxability requirements, common reconciling items and allowable deductions, such as those related to e-invoicing, the Private Retirement Benefit Plan, and the Personal Equity and Retirement Account (PERA). She also covered practical tips and reminders on transfer pricing adjustments and the Net Operating Loss Carry-Over (NOLCO) and guided attendees through the attachments to the annual ITR.
Tax Principal Aimee Dela Cruz followed with a discussion on the compliance requirements for registered business enterprises (RBEs) to avail incentives. She shared the important deadlines on annual report submission and the procedure for obtaining a Certificate of Entitlement to Tax Incentives (CETI) and a Value-Added Tax (VAT) zero-rating certificate. She then discussed the available incentives for new and expanded project registrations.
Tax Partner and International Tax Services Leader Lawrence Biscocho led the final segment, offering an interesting take on the relevant court decisions and key Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) issuances and court decisions. He explained their impact on the Philippine tax landscape and presented practical strategies to effectively navigate the system.
After the insightful discussions, Flords, Aimee, and Law sat down with Jonas for an open forum, where attendees posed intriguing questions on tax and audit, fostering collaborative learning. The seminar concluded with insights from Tax Partner Chiara Gutierrez, who reflected on the discussions and encouraged attendees to remain informed and compliant, especially during this tax filing season. She also feted the launch of the Tax Code, a legacy project commenced by PwC alumna Vice Chairman and Tax Managing Partner Malou Lim, who was also in attendance.
