Innovation in Action: PwC Philippines’ AI Hackathon 2025

On 23 May 2025, aspiring AI innovators gathered at PwC Philippines’ Makati office for the second stage of the AI Hackathon—a vibrant showcase of creativity, collaboration, and cutting-edge technology.

The AI Hackathon serves as a platform for breakthrough thinking, where participants from across the firm compete to develop impactful AI solutions aligned with PwC’s strategic goals and digital transformation journey. Out of 20 submissions, five standout ideas advanced to the next round, addressing areas such as intelligent assistance, policy compliance, operational efficiency and risk management through AI-driven solutions.

The entries were evaluated by a distinguished panel of judges that included Carlos Carado II, Tax Partner and Chief Digital Officer; Rosell Gomez, Risk Services Partner & Leader and Chief Data & Information Officer; Roberto Bassig, Risk Services Partner, Enterprise Technology Solutions Leader and Data Privacy Officer; Floredee Odulio, Tax–Client Accounting Services Partner; Dexter Toledana, Assurance Partner and Tools & Technology Leader; Salvador Guarino Jr., Chief Information Security Officer; Rosemarie Garcia, Global Technology Solutions Director; Leilani Layug-Ramirez, Deals & Corporate Finance Director and Data & Analytics Leader; Dennis Bautista, Markets Director; and Angelo Basuan, Digital Transformation Director. They were joined by Michelle Alarcon, President of the Analytics & Artificial Intelligence Association of the Philippines (AAP), and Antonilo Mauricio, Treasurer of the Global AI Council Philippines.

Two finalist teams impressed the judges with their innovative concepts and compelling pitches. Both will now collaborate with developers from PwC’s Digital Solutions Development (DSD) team to build interactive proofs of concept, which will be unveiled on 30 May.

Initiated by Digital Transformation Director Angelo Basuan, the AI Hackathon underscores PwC Philippines’ commitment to leading in Generative AI innovation and transforming bold ideas into practical solutions that shape the future of professional services.
