This gathering was hosted by PwC Philippines Chairman Emeritus Atty. Alex Cabrera, who is a member of the MSG. The attendees included more than 60 ranking officers of the AFP; members of the Congress of the Philippines; and private sector representatives from the MVP Group of Companies, the SM group, the Ayala Corporation, and Manila Water Company, among others. The event, which coincided with PwC Philippines’ 103rd anniversary celebrations, was held in the firm’s Makati office. This marks the first time the firm hosted such an event in its office and also the first time the AFP MSGC held a gathering of this nature in corporate premises.
The meeting was jointly chaired by AFP MSGC Chairperson Francisco F. Del Rosario, Jr. and Gen. Brawner. Other key participants included AFP Vice Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Jimmy D. Larida; Acting AFP Deputy Chief of Staff Major-General Rey B. Alemania; other MSGC members; and selected officers from the AFP Joint and Special Staff.
Before the meeting officially commenced, Mr. Del Rosario facilitated the swearing-in ceremony for Lt. Col. Jannette Chavez-Arceo, Chief EduTech Pathfinder at DV Tech Media Corp., marking her induction as the newest member of the AFP MSGC.
The discussions centered on advancing the AFP’s initiatives in governance, transparency and accountability. Committee Chairpersons and Co-Chairpersons shared important updates on programs tackling issues such as cybersecurity and legislation on defense and security. The MSGC also deliberated on plans to improve public communication, strengthen youth engagement and enhance disaster response.
In his closing remarks, Gen. Brawner emphasized the MSGC’s vital role in ensuring that the AFP’s programs adhere to principles of good governance and integrity. He expressed his appreciation for the MSGC members' invaluable contributions, which are crucial in fostering a stronger and more progressive Philippines. Gen. Brawner also thanked PwC Philippines for hosting the meeting, while a number of AFP officers commended the venue and the initiative.
