Nelson Soriano, Tax Partner at Isla Lipana & Co./PwC Philippines, was a resource speaker in the webinar “Elevate and Adapt: Upholding Excellence in an Evolving World” organized by the Association of Certified Public Accountants in Commerce and Industry (ACPACI), held via Zoom on 8 September 2025.
He was introduced by Isla Lipana & Co. Tax–Client Accounting Services (CAS) Executive Director Marvin Madrigalejo, who also serves as ACPACI Executive Vice President.
Nelson led a discussion titled “From Notice to Resolution: Navigating the BIR Tax Assessment Process.” He guided participants through the critical stages of a tax assessment—from receiving a notice from the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) and addressing audit findings to understanding available remedies. The discussion emphasized practical strategies for effective compliance, risk mitigation and safeguarding taxpayer rights, making it highly relevant for Certified Public Accountants handling tax engagements in today’s dynamic regulatory environment.
Participants gained actionable insights on how the BIR audit process is conducted, how taxpayers can address issues raised during audits and available remedies for resolving audit findings efficiently. The webinar underscored the importance of continuous learning, adapting to evolving tax regulations and upholding professional excellence.
