Leaders from PwC Philippines, PwC Acceleration Centers and PwC Acceleration Center (AC) Manila met with the executives, faculty and students of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) on 20 March 2024 to reaffirm PwC’s commitment to creating inclusive opportunities for education.
Chairman and Senior Partner Roderick Danao, Business Services Partner Jimmy Disquetado and Markets Director Dennis Bautista from PwC Philippines highlighted the firm’s dedication to nurturing future professionals in the country.
The PUP representatives who were present during the session shared their insights on the university’s pursuit to enhance career development: University President Manuel M. Muhi, DTech; Executive Vice President Alberto Guillo, MS, MA; Vice President for Academic Affairs Emanuel De Guzman, PhD; Vice President for Student Affairs and Services Tomas Testor, MPA; Vice President for Research, Extension and Development Anna Ruby Gapasin, DEM; Colleague of Accountancy and Finance Dean Julieta Fonte, CPA; Vice President for Campuses Pascualito Gatan; and Vice President for Administration Adam Ramio.
PwC Acceleration Centers Leader Hari Kumar and Consulting Solutions Leader Sanjeev Dutta, together with PwC AC Manila General Manager Nilesh Sharma and Managing Director Miaviel Rosario, discussed their collective role in fostering a culture of learning excellence and equipping future professionals with the skills and knowledge needed for success.
The PwC leaders then engaged in a dialogue with over 130 students from PUP’s Colleges of Accountancy, Engineering, and Computer Science. Hari and Sanjeev spoke about leading with courage and values. They also emphasized that acquiring advanced skills is important to succeed in a changing world. They also shared personal stories from their respective careers to inspire the students.
Afterwards, Rick led the group on a tour of a facility that PwC Philippines leased from PUP. Located within PUP, it will be a talent development hub where professional opportunities such as training, mentorship and internship programs will be made available to students of PUP and other institutions. During the tour, he stated the vision behind the establishment of the facility as well as the conceptualization and key dates of the hub’s upcoming programs.
