PwC Philippines Assurance Partner Vergel E. Pabillon Jr. was among the speakers at the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) Joint Quality Assurance Review (QAR) Summit held on 12-13 January at the Century Park Hotel, Manila.
With the theme “QAR: Our Way to a Sustainable Future”, the summit emphasized the role of QARs and discussed updates on QAR regulations and QAR audit methodology based on relevant Audit Standards and International Standards on Quality Management (ISQM).
On Day 2 of the summit, he talked about audit documentation, assembly of the final audit file and file maintenance and best practices. He explained how timely audit documentation can easily be re-performed by understanding the documentation of the other team members. This will help the Engagement Team/Partner to produce an appropriate conclusion/opinion and their ultimate deliverable, which is the Audit Report.
Afterwards, he joined another resource speaker in an open forum that was moderated by PICPA QAR Committee Member Joel De Leon T. Poh.
The Summit, which introduced the QAR program, currently being developed by the Board of Accountancy and the QAR office, drew approximately 250 CPAs and non-CPAs. The delegates from PwC Philippines included Assurance Partners Jocelyn De Chavez and Aira Regina Arboleda, and Assurance Risk Management (ARM) Manager Maria Loisa Navidad, and ARM Senior Associate Jannica Salino.
