PricewaterhouseCoopers Services plants trees for its fifth anniversary

July 2021

9 July 2021, Bandar Seri Begawan ー Two weeks before its fifth anniversary, PricewaterhouseCoopers Services (PwC) held a tree planting activity in collaboration with local NGO Green Brunei.

More than 30 PwC employees planted saplings of Bucida Molineti and Tebebuia Yellow along Muara Beach on 8 July 2021. The activity is in support of the PwC network’s commitment made last year to achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2030.

Planting of trees is part of the subset of carbon offsets known as carbon drawdowns or removals. Carbon removals or drawdowns result from climate mitigation projects that sequester carbon from the atmosphere, rather than merely avoiding or reducing emissions. They include natural solutions such as reforestation or technological solutions such as direct air capture.

With its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, PwC aims to fulfill its purpose by focusing on three themes along which big societal challenges across the globe are generally related: inclusivity, environmental sustainability, and systemic reform. The tree planting activity is one of the firm’s actions towards environmental sustainability.
