Vergel E. Pabillon Jr.

Vergel is an Assurance Partner of PwC Philippines. He has over 16 years of solid experience in the audits of banks, fintech companies, investment houses, securities brokerage companies, financing and lending companies, insurance companies, real estate, retirement plans and BPOs, among others.

He also participated in a number of due diligence reviews involving financial institutions. He was able to do advisory work and acted as an independent expert that would determine the appropriateness of the accounting treatments and policies adopted as well as the resulting adjustments in determining the net asset value of the entity under review. He also handled engagement acting as an independent controller that performed the review and compliance of client disbursements in accordance with the applicable accounting standards and the provisions of the contract or agreement entered into. He was heavily involved in the review engagements for capital raising transactions including review of prospectus/offering documents and preparation of comfort letters.

As part of the Global Mobility Program of PwC, Vergel gained extensive international exposure from his assignment in the PwC headquarters in London, United Kingdom for over two years. He was part of the audits of an investment bank, one of the largest globally, and its subsidiaries, and of a retail and commercial bank with particular focus on mortgage loans, credit card loans and deposits.

Vergel has in depth knowledge on International Financial Reporting Standards, Philippine Financial Reporting Standards and financial reporting regulatory requirements (BSP, SEC, and BIR). He also has wide experience on internal controls and business process review, dispute resolutions and new standards implementation projects.

Vergel graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Economics and a Bachelor of Science degree in Accountancy from De La Salle University - Manila. As a Certified Public Accountant, he is a member of the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA).
