Papua New Guinea's National Budget is more than an annual fiscal event. It provides an important signal of the Government's priorities and the choices being made around revenue, expenditure and the country's financial position. Those decisions have practical implications for businesses, investors, employees and communities, helping shape the operating environment, influence confidence and investment decisions, and frame the opportunities and challenges ahead.
In the lead-up to the 2027 National Budget, PwC Papua New Guinea and Badili Club invite business leaders and the wider business community to join a three-part webcast series exploring a simple but important question: how does PNG earn, spend and save for the future? Across Earn It, Spend It and Save It, we will look beyond the headline numbers and create space for practical discussion about revenue generation, spending priorities and financial resilience. The series will bring together different perspectives from business and the wider community, connecting everyday financial choices with the broader economic conversation and considering what these choices could mean for sustainable growth and long-term resilience in PNG.
Where does income come from, and what can strengthen the foundations for future growth? Earn It opens the series by exploring the factors that shape how individuals, businesses and the wider economy generate income. The conversation will consider the conditions that support enterprise, employment, investment and economic activity, and why a strong and sustainable revenue base matters as PNG looks towards the 2027 National Budget.
Every kina involves a choice about priorities. Spend It turns the conversation to how resources are allocated and how spending decisions can create value today while supporting a stronger tomorrow. The session will explore the importance of disciplined budgeting, prioritisation and effective expenditure, and consider how individuals, businesses and the economy can think about balancing immediate needs with longer-term outcomes.
Saving creates choices for the future. Save It considers how individuals, businesses and the wider economy can strengthen financial resilience through sound financial management, planning and the ability to respond to change. The discussion will explore how building buffers, managing resources carefully and taking a longer-term view can help create greater resilience and support sustainable opportunity.
The series is designed for business leaders, decision-makers and members of the wider business community who want to understand the issues behind the Budget, hear different perspectives and consider what the evolving economic environment could mean for their organisations and for PNG. Each conversation stands on its own, while together the three sessions build a more complete picture of the choices involved in generating income, allocating resources and strengthening financial resilience.
A practical conversation that connects national economic themes with the decisions faced by organisations and individuals.
