Joining our Advisory Services team, the Coordinator - Vaccine Logistics will be project-based and seconded on a short-term contract (three months) to the COVID-19 Vaccine Taskforce (Taskforce) to support the COVID-19 vaccine delivery in Papua New Guinea.

The Coordinator - Vaccine Logistics role involves providing support on local level planning, coordination, community engagement and monitoring of the COVID-19 vaccination roll out throughout the country, as well as assisting in any surveillance surge in the provinces. The Coordinator - Vaccine Logistics reports to the Executive Advisor Vaccine Deployment and Incident Manager. 

One Coordinator will be required for each of the four regions - Highlands, Momase, New Guinea Islands and Southern.

Your key responsibilities in this role will include the following:

Coordination, Collaboration and technical advisory role

  • Providing technical support, collaborating and coordinating with partners.

Effective program implementation and Monitoring

  • Participating in the monitoring of COVID-19 vaccination roll-out, including field site visits, identifying issues, solutions and priority actions with stakeholders.

  • Providing support to implement digital tools and T4D strategies for real-time monitoring.

  • Identifying partners for collaboration and supporting the management local partnerships, such as Non-Government Organisations (NGOs), on vaccine delivery support activities including Risk Communication and Community Engagement (RCCE), monitoring, community feedback, mobilisation and outreach of vulnerable groups.

  • Providing technical support related to data management, analysis, monitoring, evaluation and reporting for COVID-19 vaccination in PNG with high number of high risk communities, remote areas where generally coverage of routine immunisation is low. This includes providing inputs to internal and donor reporting.

  • Inspection of Vaccines at the International Airport upon arrival and pre-clearance.

  • Distribution of Vaccines and logistics in timely manner with good Cold Chain practices and temperature requirements.

Strengthen integration and system strengthening

  • Supporting local level vaccine stock management and supply chain monitoring, assessments and planning with the National Department of Health (NDoH), Provincial Health Authorities (PHAs), National Vaccine Taskforce and Partners including periodic Cold Chain Logistics (CCL) capacity building and assessments.

  • Supporting and facilitating relevant trainings, orientations, capacity building workshops for health workers, commune members and partners on COVID-19 vaccination, including micro-planning and identification, community engagement outreach and monitoring.

  • Supporting and coordinating Cold Chain and Vaccine Management trainings in PHAs.

Maintain National coordination and reporting

  • Liaising with PHAs on vaccine deliveries and training on COVID-19 Vaccine rollout.

You must at a minimum possess the following:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Diploma with a public health background

  • at least three years relevant work experience working with PHAs (public or private), with sound background skills, experience and knowledge in implementing public health programs

  • relevant sound experience and knowledge in managing and coordinating Public Health programs and disease outbreaks

  • knowledgeable in Public Health Communications and Health promotions programs

  • have sound administrative, analytical and reporting capabilities

  • exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to enable professional interactions with key stakeholders

  • excellent attention to detail, with the ability to maintain a high level of technical advice and guidance in achieving set targets and goals

  • good leadership skills in contributing to development agendas and able to identify gaps and address programs priorities more constructively

  • lead and provide technical guidance, able to set targets and support the subordinates to achieve them

  • a flexible proactive approach to work including the ability to prioritise and reprioritise, as well as the ability to deal with sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality.
