Alex brings over 30 years of experience as a tax advisor, with deep expertise in cross-border M&A, tax structuring, tax incentives and credits, offshore tax audit assistance, and strategic tax planning for domestic and multinational companies. Before assuming his current leadership role at Samil PwC, Alex served as a tax partner, advising both Korean and global clients. Throughout his career, Alex has supported multinational corporations based in Europe and the United States with a wide range of tax matters, including compliance, audits, appeals, mutual agreement procedures through competent authorities, and global tax planning.
His technical proficiency and industry insight have led to appointments as an external advisor to several government bodies, such as the Tax System Development Deliberation Committee under the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the International Taxation Committee under the National Tax Service (NTS), and the Tax Assessment Quality Review Board under the NTS Seoul Regional Office. Alex has also contributed to the international tax community, serving as Chairperson of the Taxation Committee at the European Chamber of Commerce in Korea. He is currently a member of the OECD Business Industry Advisory Committee (BIAC), Vice Chair of the International Fiscal Association Korea, and Vice Chair of the Korean Academic Society of Taxation.
Alex holds an MBA from Korea University Graduate School and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Korea University. He completed PhD coursework in taxation at Hongik University and spent three years on secondment at the PwC US San Jose Office.
