Programme brief

The increasing adoption of technology and automation in organisations has significantly enhanced their operational efficiency and effectiveness. This increased reliance on technology, however, also exposes organisations to a range of risks, including cybersecurity threats, data breaches, and system vulnerabilities, which must be proactively managed and mitigated.

To mitigate these risks, organisations must implement robust risk management strategies and invest in technology and cybersecurity measures to protect their assets and reputation.

Internal audit units should be ably equipped and positioned to provide assurance to management and the board that ITGCs and cybersecurity controls in place are designed adequately and are working effectively.

This training has been comprehensively and carefully designed to equip internal auditors with the skills and tools to provide assurance over technology and cybersecurity controls.

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the foundations of ITGCs and cyber audits
  • Identify technology and cybersecurity risks including threats, improper access management, data breaches, and system vulnerabilities
  • Apply structured risk management frameworks
  • Apply internal audit methodologies to evaluate technology and cybersecurity frameworks and practices
  • Gain the ability to evaluate and audit emerging technologies to ensure they have been adopted securely and responsibly
  • Provide assurance to management and the board on the adequacy and effectiveness of technology and cybersecurity measures

Who should attend?

  • Internal auditors seeking to strengthen their skills in auditing ITGCs and cybersecurity controls
  • IT auditors who want to enhance their understanding of broader organisational technology and cybersecurity risks
