“ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) is a strategic priority of the PwC global network, we have helped clients on these topics individually and in organized seminars in cooperation with PwC Polish and Luxembourg experts,” said Tiit Raimla, the managing partner of PwC Estonia.
“We are increasingly seeing ESG issues coming into our clients’ focus, including strategy development, risk and performance management, and reporting. That’s why we decided to hire a special ESG strategist,” he said.
“Using the knowledge, experience and support of the PwC network, as well as her own extensive experience in the field of sustainability and advising companies, Merili Vares will be a cross-service expert in developing the best solutions for our clients in ESG-related topics,” added Raimla.
“The area of sustainability inevitably needs the attention and cooperation of all companies. PwC with its client portfolio and international network, is the ideal platform for this,” said Merili Vares explaining her decision to accept PwC's offer.
Merili Vares is not really a new face to PwC – she began her consulting career namely with PwC Advisors, focusing primarily on the development of governance, risk management, and internal control in both the public and private sectors. Then she worked for a few years as a financial manager at a local construction and manufacturing company with an international reach. After that, however, she decided to make a turn in her career and joined the Let's Do It Foundation, which was then preparing for the first World Cleanup Day. Since 2020, she has actively contributed to the leadership of the Corporate Assessment Working Group at the Responsible Business Forum (VEF) and acted as a mentor and trainer.
