Coop Estonia has signed an agreement with the Finnish retail group SOK to acquire Prisma Peremarket and its 13 stores located in Estonia.
The transaction requires approval from the Estonian Competition Authority but is expected to be finalized during 2026. Prisma stores located in Estonia will be rebranded as Coop stores, and 700 Prisma employees will transfer under Coop. Until the approval is granted, the retail chains will continue to operate independently in Estonia. Coop aims to expand its presence in Tallinn through the acquisition of Prisma, as the chain has historically focused on other regions of Estonia.
As the largest and oldest food and daily goods chain in Estonia, Coop unites 18 local consumer cooperatives and a central cooperative coordinating their activities. The group has 320 stores across Estonia.
Prisma has been operating in Estonia since 2000 and has a total of 13 stores in Tallinn, Harju County, Tartu, Narva, and Rapla. Prisma Peremarket belongs to the Finnish retail group S-Group.
PwC Estonia advised Coop with financial and tax due diligence. The project team included Teet Tender, Allar Karu, Jere Robert Hirvi, Marcus Hallikmägi, Marindra Soikka, Martin Tois and Merli Suu.
