The first days at PwC begin with Induction Day. You will go through this day with other new hires. In the morning, you will be given basic information about PwC – we will show you how we work and our organisational structure, and you will sign your employment contract. You will get a notebook and iPhone and we will familiarise you with the benefits that you can look forward to. And as a bonus, there will be great refreshments for replenishing your energy throughout the day.
After Induction, you will be picked up by your buddy or manager, who will be your pillar of support in the first days. You will get to know your team and agree on what awaits you in the coming days.
I knew from the beginning what awaited me at PwC and onboarding went precisely according to plan. Right on the first day, I was surprised by how efficiently everything worked and how well-organised it was. Everything was prepared a month in advance and during Induction we accomplished in one day what would take a week anywhere else.
It’s a little different with every department; it depends on the content and nature of the work. Some immediately get involved in projects, while others continue in their training. But you don’t have to worry about anything, as your buddy and team will be available to you during the whole trial period, and they will be happy to help you with everything.
Like in every company, you will undergo mandatory trainings that cover areas such as risk, regulatory compliance, health and safety – standard things, but they are essential for your work. Some teams have other, specific trainings depending on their specialisations.
After the trial period ends, it will be time to focus on the next step in your professional development – setting of personal goals (KPIs). This is an opportunity for you to advance and concentrate on what is important for your growth. You will discuss with a coach specific area on which you want to work. At the same time, you can request feedback from colleagues and managers, which will help you to understand where you still have room for improvement and, conversely, what you excel in.
