PwC Botswana

Ethics, growth and trusted advice

At PwC Botswana, we don’t just advise, we partner with our clients to solve complex business problems. Our work is anchored in purpose and powered by integrity. We help organisations build value, manage risk, and improve performance while upholding the highest ethical standards. Through strong governance, transparent reporting, and responsible decision-making, we support Botswana’s economy and contribute to robust capital markets.

Growing responsibly

Success is measured not only by outcomes but by the way we achieve them. We are committed to growing and developing, individually and as a firm, through curiosity, accountability, and the PwC values that guide every action. Our approach combines technical excellence with ethical leadership to deliver sustainable, long-term impact for clients, people, and society.

Therefore, we lead with our values which are;

  • Integrity: act honestly and with transparency in all dealings.

  • Objectivity and independence: avoid conflicts of interest and maintain professional scepticism.

  • Stewardship: protect the trust of clients, stakeholders, and the public.

  • Quality and excellence: deliver work of the highest standard, every time.

  • Respect and inclusion: foster a diverse, inclusive environment where every voice is valued.

  • Accountability: own decisions and take corrective action when necessary.

Our code of conduct

The PwC Code of Conduct is more than a policy document, it is a living framework that guides behaviour across all PwC firms. It translates our core values into practical actions, helping our people make ethical decisions, build trust, and navigate difficult situations with confidence. While professional standards, laws, and regulations set the baseline, we recognise that not every scenario is covered by policy. In those moments, we rely on professional judgment, sound governance, and the right channels to seek guidance.

Need to raise a concern?

We are committed to openness and accountability. If you have questions or concerns about conduct at PwC Botswana, or about suspected misconduct, we encourage you to act.

You can raise concerns through:

  • PwC Botswana Ethics Helpline : confidential, anonymous where allowed by law.

  • Direct contact with local Compliance & Ethics lead,  Icho Molebatsi (Ethics Champion)

  • Global ethics channels if you prefer to escalate beyond the local level.

All concerns are treated seriously. We protect the confidentiality of reporters and prohibit retaliation against individuals who raise legitimate concerns in good faith. Our aim is to resolve issues promptly, transparently, and in line with legal and professional obligations.

Embedding ethics in PwC Botswana Workspace

Codes cannot cover every scenario, and the complexity of global operations means we continually translate policy into practical action, guided by professional judgment, leadership tone at the top, and ongoing education. Therefore, balancing client confidentiality with public accountability remains essential. We foster trust by maintaining an agile and robust ethics framework designed to adapt, ensuring consistent integrity across all jurisdictions in which we operate, employ rigorous data protection, privacy practices, and ethical handling of information.

This is evidenced as detailed below;

1. Training, awareness and capability building

  • Ongoing ethics training and refreshers for all staff, tailored to Botswana’s regulatory context and industry-specific risks.

  • Leadership development to reinforce ethical decision-making, governance culture, and accountability at all levels.

  • Scenario-based learning and regular communications that reinforce the importance of integrity, trust, and responsible business conduct.

2. Governance and accountability

  • An independent ethics function within PwC Botswana oversees compliance with the Code of Conduct, monitors emerging risks, and ensures timely escalation when issues arise.

  • Clear escalation paths, timely investigations, and appropriate action plans uphold accountability and continuous improvement.

  • Collaboration with regulators to promote shared ethical standards and responsible business practices across markets.

3. Data protection, privacy and cybersecurity

  • We prioritise secure data handling, privacy by design, and robust cybersecurity measures to protect client information and personal data.

  • Our governance framework includes data stewardship, access controls, and ongoing risk assessments to safeguard trust.

4. Diversity, inclusion and responsible culture

  • We champion an inclusive culture that recognises diverse perspectives, integration across teams, and equitable opportunities for all staff.

  • We engage in community and stakeholder dialogues to understand and address social and environmental impacts of our work.

For over 150 years, the people of PwC have striven to display the highest values and standards in serving our clients and in all of our business dealings.
