PwC Foundation - Overview
Message from our president
Since our establishment in 2020, the PwC Foundation has hand-picked social problems that we clearly and distinctly envisage need addressing and invited grant applications from social ventures (SVs) that contribute to solving those problems.
Building on our experience from the grant programmes, in 2024, we illustrated the world as envisioned by the PwC Foundation and the path toward its realisation in the form of the Theory of Change (ToC). Our aim is to create a sustainable ecosystem that enables organisations that share the same aspirations to impact society, rather than merely having the PwC Foundation generate impact through these programmes.
In this ecosystem, we wish to realise a world where technologies capable of driving major innovation are harnessed, revolutionary solutions are successively applied to social problems, and SVs leading these movements emerge one after another.
To this end, in addition to the grant programmes, we at the PwC Foundation will implement in society the know-how of the secretariat and programme officers who consistently support each grant programme, as well as our proven schemes.

Our mission
PwC’s Purpose is to build trust in society and solve important problems. Based on this Purpose, we are engaged in corporate responsibility (CR) activities with the goal of achieving a sustainable society, in addition to our business operations. Specifically, we proactively focus our CR activities on the three themes of sustainable and responsible business, providing support to communities and promoting environmental stewardship.
In Japan and throughout the world, however, a gap remains between economic growth and social development, and many challenges remain in terms of sustainable growth.
In response to this situation, the PwC Japan Group established the PwC Foundation with the goal of further impacting society by providing assistance to organisations that leverage innovative ideas to solve social problems.
To achieve a sustainable society, our Foundation accepts applications for support from organisations that work to solve problems related to:
- Education and upskilling
- Diversity and inclusion (D&I)
- The environment
Through these activities, and with a long-term perspective, the PwC Foundation aims to contribute to the achievement of a sustainable society.
