The client wanted to enhance the organisation's ability to drive projects by combining innovation, experimentation and flexibility with the aim of achieving tangible results faster. Therefore, they decided to leverage the Agile methodology in one of their projects that required close collaboration between business and IT departments, along with a number of suppliers. The client's expectation was to test and see if the organisation could take advantage of the Agile methodology to improve its ability to achieve results.
Our objective was to support our client in becoming autonomous as quickly as possible with the new set of tools and skills introduced by the Agile methodology. We adapted our approach to the client, implementing the methodology gradually and step by step, ensuring that the theory and its daily application would work in a real project that was about to start.
Together with our client's sponsor, we identified and involved two highly motivated key players from the start, a scrum master and the product owner of the business. We then involved large business and development teams, including external suppliers who collaborated at all stages of the projects. During these projects, we have implemented, week after week, 44 Agile techniques that our client's teams have developed through our coaching.
The customer successfully reduced the workload compared to similar projects and it helped to create an environment where solutions to potential problems are quicker identified. The Agile methodology worked particularly well in improving cross-functional collaboration, breaking down silos and offering a more satisfactory solution.
In addition, the project team was able to anticipate the implementation four weeks ahead of schedule, enabling faster time-to-market. The approach adopted ensured a 100% buy-in with participants willing to continue working in Agile, agreeing that the methodology is more effective than traditional project management methods used to date. The client decided to implement Agile on future innovation projects.
