Wes currently serves as a Global Vice Chair and Global Chief Risk and Regulatory Officer at PwC, leading the network's strategy for anticipating and responding to emerging enterprise risks across one of the world's largest professional services organizations. In this role, he partners with senior leaders globally to strengthen resilience, governance, and trust, while engaging directly with regulators, policymakers, and standard-setters around the world on matters spanning assurance, tax & legal, and advisory services, as well as broader issues related to the integrity of the global capital markets and the public interest.
Wes has shaped the accounting and auditing profession from both the regulatory and private-sector vantage points. He previously served as PwC's Global Assurance Leader, where he led 127,000 partners and staff in delivering high-quality assurance to clients in every major market. As Global Assurance Leader, he was the sponsor of PwC's $1 billion, multiyear investment to build an AI-first platform for delivering audit services globally, a transformation reshaping how assurance is delivered at scale. Earlier, he served as the PwC US Assurance Leader and PwC US Trust Solutions Co-Leader.
Previously, Wes served as Chief Accountant of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, the principal advisor to the Commission on accounting and auditing matters. He chaired the Monitoring Group, the international body of financial regulators working to advance audit quality and the public interest in global standard-setting.
Throughout his career, Wes has been a frequent voice on the future of the profession and the capital markets. He has provided testimony before the U.S. Congress, speaks regularly at industry, regulatory, and governance forums around the world, and is often sought out by the media for commentary on accounting, auditing, and capital markets issues. He has been recognized by Forbes and Accounting Today among influential leaders in the profession.
Wes serves on the board of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD). He previously served on various boards, including the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and chaired XBRL International, the global consortium overseeing the standard for digital business reporting. Wes earned a BS in accounting from Elizabethtown College and a JD from American University. He is a CPA in Virginia, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and the District of Columbia, and a member of the New York State Bar Association.
