May 4, 2021 - As the COVID-19 crisis escalates in India, PwC’s priority is to support our people and the greater community facing this devastating second wave.

To quickly provide impact on the ground, the U.S. firm will donate $600,000 to the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum, in partnership with the Indian Red Cross, to help purchase 1,500 oxygen concentrators. It will also donate $900,000 to charities to set up programs to support vaccinations and to provide medical supplies including ventilators, oxygen concentrators and masks.

To support additional relief efforts, The PwC Charitable Foundation, Inc. will donate $500,000 to the following organizations:

  • Direct Relief: $250,000 to help source and transport oxygen concentrators as well as PPE and other urgent medical supplies into the country. Direct Relief is in active conversations with its hospital and health facility partners across India, including those in Bangalore and Kolkata, regarding their supply needs.
  • CARE: $250,000 in support of pop-up COVID care centers and the acquisition and delivery of oxygen concentrators, PPE and other critical medical supplies to hospitals in some of the hardest-hit regions in India including Delhi and Maharashtra and many vulnerable, rural communities (e.g., Bihar), whose access to adequate healthcare may be more limited. CARE also has an office in Bangalore and is in active conversations about how they may respond there.

In addition, PwC staff and partners are actively making personal donations to Direct Relief, United Way and CARE through Impact Space, the firm’s online giving platform for PwC people to give to charities of their choice.

The U.S. firm and Foundation will continue to work across the PwC Network and with charities to support our people and communities during this humanitarian crisis. Given this is an ongoing situation, please check back regularly for updates.
