The challenges of integrated resort development in Japan

Looking for ways to boost tourism and generate new revenue, Japan is considering measures to approve integrated resorts (IR) – large-scale entertainment complexes that combine casinos with hotels, restaurants, conference centers and retail spaces.

If approved, IRs would create a different gaming experience in Japan, where the industry revolves around pachinko, sports betting and lotteries. We look at the challenges ahead – and potential benefits.
