Overview

The ETF (Exchange Traded Fund) market is expanding beyond large liquid indices in developed markets. ETFs now hold over $2.6 trillion of assets globally.*

ETFs will impact the financial services markets more broadly than in the past. As such, all financial services firms should consider developing an ETF strategy.

PwC surveyed asset managers, service providers, and other industry participants around the world to understand regional developments in ETFs and use their expertise as a basis from which we provide our perspective on the global ETF market.

The results of our global survey of asset managers show how the ETF industry is likely to expand globally in the years leading up to 2020. To help asset managers prepare to compete in this environment, we focused our analysis and findings on the evolution of the ETF industry, barriers to growth, and how asset managers can plan for the future of the ETF market.
