Created by UN Women, the United Nations entity for gender equality and the empowerment of women, HeForShe is a global effort to engage men and boys in removing the social and cultural barriers that prevent women and girls from achieving their potential. The achievement of gender equality requires an inclusive approach that recognizes the crucial role of men and boys as partners for women’s rights, and as having needs of their own in the formulation of that balance.

PwC International: founding IMPACT partner of HeForShe
As a founding IMPACT partner of HeForShe, PwC International will collaborate with leading companies, heads-of-state, and universities to facilitate actions that recognize the crucial role of men as partners for women’s empowerment and advancement. Recently, at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Emma Watson, UN Women Global Goodwill Ambassador, announced the HeForShe IMPACT 10x10x10 movement.

Working with the Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media, Geena Davis gives an inspirational keynote speech on the empowerment and advancement of women, followed by a robust panel discussion with Geena as well as Dawn Hudson, CEO of the Academy, Jennifer Yuh Nelson, Academy Award nominee and director, and Peter Yobo, PwC US Advisory Senior Associate, where they examined the parallels between gender portrayals in the media, the role of women in the workplace, and discussed how men and women can take action to support gender equality.
PwC hosted the second global webcast in our "Aspire to lead" series in London, UK. On this webcast we heard authors of ‘The Confidence Code’ Katty Kay and Claire Shipman share top tips from their book and Eileen Naughton, Managing Director of Google UK and Ireland, share insights from her career. The webcast was hosted by Mike Fenlon, PwC’s Global and US Talent Leader who gave tips on how men can support women in leadership roles by supporting HeforShe.

PwC’s Aspire to lead webcast, which featured Lean in for Graduates author and Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg, crossed the cultural and geographic borders of more than 70 countries. Sheryl joined PwC’s US Human Capital Leader and Global Talent Leader Terri McClements and Lean In President Rachel Thomas to offer students practical career advice, share their own personal experiences on how to navigate their careers and answer questions from college students. In addition, during the broadcast, participants heard Rachel share Lean In’s ten tips for graduates including, “Adopt the mantra ‘Proceed and be bold,’ Shift from a ‘what do I get?’ to a ‘what can I offer?’ mindset and Break long-term goals into short-term steps.”
