In the tax profession, the use of data analytics for both compliance and consulting will soon become the norm; tax professionals will also be data analysts. Information that stood stagnant in paper files before can now be collected in seconds, freeing up our professionals to do strategic work by using data in new ways. We can now analyze entire data sets, as opposed to smaller samples, and make decisions based on them.
Over the next few years, we will fundamentally transform the way we go about tax compliance. This transformation will allow our professionals to focus more on the logic behind the data queries, fine tuning their analytical skills and enhancing their knowledge of technical tax and the client industry and its business process in their review of results. It’s about working smarter, and using innovation and technology to make that happen.
