Sidney started her career at PwC as an intern in 2005 and received a full time offer for the following year in our San Francisco Forensic Services practice. Sidney progressed through the firm in our San Francisco office and in 2012 transferred to our Los Angeles office as a Manager.
How does your background shape your perspective in your role at PwC?
A: Though I was born in the US, I spent much of my youth and adolescence in Taiwan. It wasn't until after graduating from high school that I returned to the States for college. Spending my formative years abroad definitely forced me to shift away from a US-centric worldview and gave me a cultural dexterity that helps me serve our multi-national clients globally.
What do you enjoy doing outside work?
A: I love being active and challenging my physical limits. During my time in San Francisco, I took trampoline and board sports classes. When I moved to Los Angeles, I was excited to find a circus school in my neighborhood that offered acrobatics and aerial arts classes. On the weekends, you can find me horseback riding (in the summer) or snowboarding (in the winter).
How do you leverage flexibility at PwC?
A: Working as a member of the Forensic Services team is all about flexibility. For example, you never know when and where the next engagement will be. You learn to adjust to circumstances changing at a moment's notice. Some of our projects are so sensitive that they require the utmost confidentiality. I once worked on an engagement that was shrouded in such secrecy that the team was given our travel arrangements only 24 hours in advance. In order to balance the uncertainty of our work with the desire to live full lives, we do our best to accommodate each other's schedules and priorities while serving our clients.
