In 2004, Jamie began his career at PwC. During his time at PwC, he passed his CPA exam and eventually transitioned into the Advisory practice in 2007. Jamie recently received his MBA from Northwestern in 2012 while balancing his workload and personal activities, an experience that was personally both challenging and rewarding.
Q: What made you switch from Assurance to Advisory?
A: I learned about Advisory through browsing on the website and talking to human resources. I’m grateful that I didn’t have to look outside of PwC to find other opportunities.
Q: Tell us about your experience with networking at PwC.
A: When I transitioned into Advisory, I had to start networking again with new partners/principals and new directors. I would go to their offices and introduce myself and let them know what my skillset was. I felt like I built a new network and was able to hit the ground running.
Q: How did you balance work and getting your MBA?
A: I did the MBA program at Northwestern part-time while balancing work and it was very intense. My work and personal activities didn’t stop so I had to learn to balance and prioritize. I also met a lot of people networking while in the program.
Q: Are you involved in anything outside of work?
A: I started a foundation with a colleague of mine. I think the work at PwC forces you to go beyond your boundaries and really accomplish a goal you may have been thinking about for a while. There’s definitely an entrepreneurial spirit here.
