International Intern Experience

Select Interns experienced PwC’s global network by shadowing a US assignee working abroad. These interns had the opportunity to acquire and expand critical skills that will help them succeed in a truly global network of firms while experiencing a new culture, establishing new relationships, and enjoying new life challenges.

Our interns experience

This past summer Melanie Brown, an intern from the New York office, traveled to Buenos Aires, Argentina for her International Intern Experience. Hear from Melanie as she describes how the experience helped her grow both professionally and personally.

International Intern Experience

The International Intern Experience is your opportunity to immerse yourself in PwC’s global network through working abroad. Selected interns will have the chance to acquire and expand critical skills that will help them succeed in a truly global landscape while experiencing a new culture, making friends, and enjoying new life challenges. Working with our global network of firms, the US firm will send interns to offices around the world for a one-week assignment. Interns will be paired with a current US assignee abroad to experience life inside the world’s leading professional services firm—at home or overseas. Participating interns will develop many new skills and qualities that will be valuable for their future careers.

Selected interns will begin their winter/spring or summer internship in their respective home office on their market designated start date and will attend local training with their intern peer group. This will be followed by a one week international assignment abroad. Upon completion of this experience, interns will return to their local office to complete their winter/spring or summer internship. All work visas, housing and travel arrangements will be paid by PwC.

Interested students should contact their local recruiter for further details.

Paul Estep - Budapest

Looking back at his International Intern Experience, Paul Estep knows how lucky he was to have such a great opportunity. As an intern working out of the Houston Market with PwC US, Paul was able to spend a week in Budapest working alongside his PwC Hungary colleagues on an audit for one of the office's largest European clients. It was also Paul's time outside of the office when he was able to immerse himself in the local culture that made his experience so memorable. When Paul was not working he was spending time exploring the city and taking in the delicious Hungarian cuisine and rich architecture. For Paul, nothing could have prepared him for his experience in Budapest. This experience, as Paul notes, helped him grow both personally and professionally in a way he could not have imagined when he started his internship.

Jessica Chung - Amsterdam

The International Intern Experience at PwC allows interns the opportunity to explore new cultures, make life-long friends, and enjoy new challenges. For Jessica Chung, an intern from the Pacific Northwest Market, it was an eye opening experience to spend a week in PwC Netherlands and the Amsterdam office. The experience opened Jessica's eyes to the boundless opportunities one has when working in the PwC global network. Working abroad, even though it was only a week, gave Jessica the chance to form new relationships, learn about a new culture, and get a better understanding of PwC's global mobility program. Upon returning home from Amsterdam Jessica only had one thing to tell her team, "Thank you so much for this opportunity."

Dominic Carlini - London

Dominic participated in the International Intern Experience, and of the experience he shared, "This week abroad was truly an amazing and enlightening experience for me - I learned many things relating to language, culture, and business. After spending time in the UK and assisting several PwC UK teams, I found that a team can work together seamlessly, regardless of culture, ethnicity, or geographical location. I was amazed at how easily I felt right at home."

Alex Chapman - Australia

Alex, a winter intern out of PwC US’s Chicago office, is just back from Sydney, where he spent time with PwC Australia as part of our International Intern Experience. Alex shared, "Spending time shadowing people of this caliber really showed me how people at other PwC firms perform at a very high level, both in their technical abilities and their soft skills. All in all, I had a phenomenal experience, both professionally and culturally, and I thank PwC US and PwC Australia for the unbelievable opportunity."

Zachary George - London

Zachary, an intern out of the US firm’s Columbus office, travelled to PwC UK’s London office through the International Intern Experience. During the week, Zach shared, "This experience has opened my eyes to the boundless opportunities one has when working within the PwC global network. Working abroad, albeit for a short period of time, has given me the chance to form new relationships, learn about a new culture, and gain a better understanding of the PwC network's global mobility program. These past few days have challenged me, made me more rounded and assisted in preparing me for my future."

Sara Ross - Switzerland

Sara, a winter intern in Advisory based in the US firm’s Detroit office, recently travelled to Zurich, Switzerland as part of the International Intern Experience. Sara reflected, "Throughout the week I had incredible opportunities to assist a PwC Swiss team that was working on high-profile client work and to spend time in a breathtaking city. From attending a meeting with the CFO of one of Zurich's largest financial services companies to building relationships with Swiss colleagues - my experience in Zurich has been amazing."

Melissa Barringer - Hong Kong

As Melissa Barringer can tell you, Chicago and Hong Kong are very different. In Chicago the local food is deep dish pizza and in Hong Kong it is dim sum. As an intern coming from the PwC US, Chicago Market, Melissa very much looked forward to exploring a culture she knew little about. But more importantly Melissa looked forward to exploring a style of business that she had only read about in text books. The experience of getting to take part in PwC's International Intern Experience was truly life-changing for Melissa. Not only did she get to explore a culture of food that she had never imagined she would experience, but she had the opportunity to learn the accounting profession first hand from her PwC Hong Kong colleagues. Having the opportunity to work on clients in the local market and learning from those around her was unmatched to anything else Melissa could have spent her summer doing.
