Tom Craren joined the firm in 1977 and has served on the Global CEO Survey Advisory Board for over 6 years. The Global CEO Survey is the firm’s flagship publication which gains insight and shares the CEO perspective. Tom is based in NY and has held several leadership positions with the Firm, most recently, as leader of US Brand & Thought Leadership. Prior to that, he was Managing Partner, Global Brand & Communications.
Tom served as Managing Partner of Government Affairs from 1996 to 1998, working in Washington D.C.. During that time he participated in televised testimony before both houses of Congress, and led the first audit and review of the US House of Representatives. He received the Meritorious Service Award from the US House of Representatives in 1995 and the Inspector General's Award from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development in 1992.
Among his more notable achievements was his role in the 1998 merger of Price Waterhouse with Coopers & Lybrand when, as a member of the merger team, he dealt with challenging public policy issues. He was also instrumental in opening the PwC offices in Moscow and Kiev.
Tom has served on the boards of a number of business institutions. Currently he is a board member of the Atlantic Council. He has served on the board of directors of the European American Business Council, the Advisory Board of the European Institute, and the governing council of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
After receiving a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Nebraska, he earned an MBA from George Washington University and a Master of Science degree in International Studies from Georgetown University. He is a Certified Public Accountant as well as a Certified Government Financial Manager.
