Chanchai is Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of PwC Thailand, which has more than 1,800 employees.
Prior to taking the top post in 2020, Chanchai held various leadership roles within PwC, including leading the Thailand firm’s Assurance practice and serving as a management board member. His areas of expertise include preparing companies for an initial public offering (IPO) through improvements in their financial reporting, corporate governance and internal control system. He has also been responsible for audit work, accounting system design and implementation, and litigation for both large multinational and Thai listed entities.
Throughout his professional career, Chanchai has been actively involved in developing the country’s accounting industry. He has continued efforts to modernise the accounting profession in Thailand by supporting and supervising practitioners as well as shaping the broader industry, including by establishing regulations and standards that are crucial to the ethics and governance of auditing professionals.
Since 2011 he has served the Federation of Accounting Professions (FAP) – Thailand’s official accounting standards-setting body in various capacities. This period also marked a significant milestone for the Thai accounting industry, in which auditing standards were developed in line with international auditing standards, a move that bolstered the country’s capital markets.
Presently, Chanchai is Chairperson of the FAP’s Foreign Affairs Sub-Committee. This Sub-Committee’s primary role is to keep up with global developments in the industry, including preparation for entry into the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) and compliance with international agreements for accounting professionals.
Additionally, Chanchai has been a member of the Advisory Board to the Securities and Exchange Commission of Thailand (SEC) since 2014. In this capacity, he has played a vital role in considering disciplinary proceedings against audit practitioners.
Chanchai has more than 23 years of diversified experience serving clients in various sectors across Thailand. His client portfolios span industries including transportation and logistics, energy and mining, hospitality and leisure, property development, and construction.
He joined Price Waterhouse’s Assurance practice in 1997 and became a partner in 2006.
He also regularly shares his time and expertise with external professional bodies. In addition to his role as Chairperson of the FAP’s Foreign Affairs Sub-Committee, he is a regular guest speaker at seminars and events held by organisations including the SEC, the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) and the Market for Alternative Investment (mai).
