Food Industry Asia (FIA) Lunch Talk - Food Fraud: Eliminating the Risk to Consumers and Industry

PwC Singapore’s food trust team collaborated with Food Industry Asia (FIA) to host a lunch time event on the 7th of December, 2016. 

Led by PwC’s Southeast Asia Food Trust Leader, Julia Leong, the event gathered over 60 attendees from across the globe and companies engaging in a variety of food related businesses. With tackling food fraud an increasingly a priority for the food industry, the session had PwC Singapore facilitate a holistic conversation around food fraud. Representatives from the private sector were also brought in to present their views and to share their thoughts through the panel session.

PwC promotes Food Trust at the Philippines Chamber of Food Manufacturers

Trust is important for the success and survival for food companies globally, especially with globalisation – where the interconnectedness can cause negligence on one end to be echoed into a bigger issue on the other end. With food scandals becoming commonplace in the recent years and increasing consumer consciousness, PwC Singapore emphasised the importance of food trust to industry players across the region at the Philippines Chamber of Food Manufacturers, specifically on the topic of food fraud.

The prestigious annual event is recognised as the most influential public-private sector dialogue in the Asia Pacific region, gathering of Heads of State and business leaders from 21 economies. 

It was a great opportunity for PwC to be at the frontline of the conversation between food industry executives and ministers across regions, where we facilitated and participated in discussions focused on strengthening regional food security, which aligns well with the capabilities of our growing Food Supply & Integrity Services business.
