Ms Lim Maan Huey
Tax partner

Maan Huey, a Tax Partner with the Financial Services group of PwC Singapore, is a business advisor to clients in areas of asset finance, asset management and banking and capital markets.

In the areas of asset finance and banking and capital markets, Maan Huey has advised banks, leasing companies, finance and treasury companies and securities firms on arrangements involving start-ups, restructuring, mergers and acquisition, product taxation, cash pooling, leasing and financing arrangements.

In the asset management area, Maan Huey has advised clients in family offices, hedge funds, private equity, real estate and sovereign wealth funds. She has tax advisory experience in many aspects, including permanent establishment issues for funds and fund managers, set-up of funds and fund management operations, use of Singapore-domiciled investment/fund structures, cross-border investments as well as restructuring and mergers and acquisition transactions. Maan Huey also spent about two years in PwC US, New York where she worked with US-based private equity funds on global investment structures and fund management operations.



Mr Girish Vikas Naik
Tax director, PwC Singapore

Girish specialises in expatriate tax consulting, regional expatriate tax management, remuneration structuring, and all aspects of management incentive plan design and consulting.

Of late, he has been assisting many clients to address issues arising from cross border movements of employees in the Asia region and beyond. This includes assessment of alternative employment arrangements for such employees, conceptualisation of international assignment and tax equalization policies to facilitate such movements as well as ensuring local tax compliance.



Mr Kor Bing Keong
Tax Partner

Kor Bing Keong is a Tax Partner with PricewaterhouseCoopers Singapore Pte. Ltd. (PwC), specializing in Goods and Services Tax (GST).

Bing Keong has over 25 years of experience specializing in GST. He offers GST advice in diverse issues and industries, where he has successfully assisted his clients in appealing to the authorities for changes to the GST rules and legislation. He also assists clients with dispute resolution with the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (IRAS). In addition, Bing Keong regularly conducts GST trainings and GST reviews (e.g. Assisted Self-Help Kit and Assisted Compliance Assurance Program).

Bing Keong was one of the pioneer members of the GST team at the IRAS and was heavily involved in the implementation of GST in Singapore and Malaysia.

Bing Keong regularly speaks on indirect tax matters at public forums and conducts GST lectures at the Nanyang Technological University. He was also a lead examiner for the advanced GST course offered by the Tax Academy. Bing Keong was appointed by the World Bank as a short-term Tax Consultant on a Value Added Tax (equivalent to GST) project and contributed articles on GST to The Business Times.

Mr Chris Woo (Moderator)

Chris is the Tax Leader for PwC Singapore and PwC Myanmar. He is also a member of the leadership team of PwC Singapore. He has over 20 years of professional experience.

Chris specialises in the M&A tax needs of strategic, financial and private equity clients from Asia, the United States and Europe. He has extensive experience providing tax structuring and planning for acquisitions including management and leveraged buy-outs, and divestments. This extends to global, regional and Singapore targets in a wide array of industries. Chris also worked in the M&A tax team in the London office of PwC UK.

Chris also brings over 6 years of industry experience. He was the international tax director for the Plastics, Advanced Materials and Industrial businesses of the General Electric Company based in the US and Singapore at various points during that period.



Minister Indranee Rajah
Second Minister for Finance and Education
Prime Minister's Office

Ms Indranee Rajah is the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office. She is also Second Minister for Finance and Education.

Ms Rajah has been the Member of Parliament for the Tanjong Pagar Group Representation Constituency (GRC) since 2001. She chaired the Government Parliamentary Committee (GPC) for Law & Home Affairs from 2004 to 2006 and the GPC for Defence and Foreign Affairs from 2006 to mid-2009. She was a Deputy Speaker of Parliament from 2006 to 2011.

She was appointed Senior Minister of State for Law and Education in 2012. Under her law portfolio she co-chaired the Committees on Family Justice, the formation of the Singapore International Commercial Court as well as the Committee to Strengthen Singapore as an International Centre for Debt Restructuring. She also helmed the Steering Committee on the strategic direction of Singapore's third law school at UniSIM.

In her education portfolio, she led the Committee for Applied Studies in Polytechnics and ITE (ASPIRE) resulting in SkillsFuture, a national movement to align education with economic demand, career guidance and lifelong learning.

Following the 2015 General Election, she relinquished her education portfolio, and was appointed Senior Minister of State for Finance concurrently with her Ministry of Law portfolio.  



Mr Laurence Lien
Co-Founder and CEO
Asia Philanthropy Circle

Laurence Lien is the Chairman of the Lien Foundation, Chairman of the Community Foundation of Singapore, and CEO of the Asia Philanthropy Circle. He is also the Vice-President of the Centre for Non-Profit Leadership.

He is the immediate past Chief Executive Officer of the National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre (NVPC) and a former Nominated Member of Parliament, advocating for the social sector and civil society in Parliament.

Formerly the Director of Governance and Investment at the Ministry of Finance, Laurence served 14 years in the Singapore Administrative Service, rotating through different positions in the Ministries of Community Development, Youth and Sports, Home Affairs and Education.



Ms Selena Ling
Head of Treasury Research & Strategy
Global Treasury Division

Selena Ling is the Chief Economist of OCBC Bank and has more than 20 years of banking and research experience. She leads a team of economists, credit analysts and strategists that are responsible for Treasury market research, forecasts, and trading recommendations for the bank. She is a member of the OCBC Wealth Panel for Singapore and Malaysia, as well as a council member for the Economic Society of Singapore. 

Selena started her economist career with the Economics Division in the Ministry of Trade and Economics and subsequently the Fiscal Policy Division of the Ministry of Finance in Singapore, before moving to OCBC Bank in 2000.



Mr Christopher Lee
Head of Tax

Christopher has more than 25years of tax experience primarily in the financial sector and "Big-4" practice. He currently heads up the tax team in Grab, a South East Asia- based technology company offering ride-hailing transport services, food delivery and payment solutions.

Until recently, he was a tax expert and independent advisor to BearingPoint, a leading consulting and technology company, assisting with CRS/FATCA implementations for its banking clients in the region.

Prior to that, he was JPMorgan South East Asia head of tax, and tax leader for the bank's Asia Private banking business. Christopher also possess extensive China tax experience having been the tax director for UBS in China.

He has worked as tax advisor to a diversified range of MNCs financial institutions in their product offerings and transactions. His tax expertise covers structured finance, family offices solutions, dispute resolutions and support.


Tan Toi Chia
SVP, Head Corporate Planning & Group Communications

Toi Chia leads group strategy, organisation transformation and development, partnership development, strategic marketing & brand management, public and investor relations and corporate social responsibility for Certis and its global group of businesses. Certis is a leader in advanced integrated security services, headquartered in Singapore.

Prior to Certis, Toi Chia was a consultant at Heidrick & Struggles, a global executive search and leadership consulting firm. A member of both the CEO & Board and Industrial practices, he led board effectiveness reviews, board & leadership assessments, culture-shaping assignments, and appointments to board and senior leadership roles.

Andrew is a tax partner and leads the Transfer Pricing and VCT practice in Singapore. He joined PW in London 1992 and became a UK partner in 2003. During his career he has lived and worked in London, Hong Kong, Johannesburg and Singapore.

Throughout his career Andrew has worked with MNCs across multiple sectors, helping them structure their international operations, transfer pricing and holding arrangements. He has a particular specialism in integrated global structuring projects.

Andrew is the global leader of the firm’s Value Chain Transformation (‘VCT’) practice - an international network of tax and management consulting specialists who work together to design and implement tax optimised business operating models and transfer pricing policies.

Edmond is the Tax General Manager for Giti Tire. Giti Tire is a multinational tire manufacturer headquartered in Singapore, which ranks #11 among global tire companies in size & revenue.  Giti Tire serves more than 130 markets globally, with 5 R&D locations and 7 manufacturing facilities across 3 countries.

Edmond has more than 15 years in regional APAC Head of Tax leadership roles in Chemical / Agriculture industries with an end to end value chain.


Mr Frank Debets
PwC Customs & Trade Leader
PwC Singapore

Frank is the Managing Partner of PwC’s Asian Worldtrade Management Services (WMS) practice, based in Singapore.  He is the project and client relationship manager for some of the largest WMS clients, both globally and in the Asia-Pacific region.  On top of his managing and coordinating role, Frank advises companies on all aspects of the cross border movement of products, from a tax regulatory as well as logistics perspective.

Frank has worked with many major multinationals to analyse and improve their trade risk management profile and maximise benefits from trade regulatory opportunities.  His background is in supply chain management and he combines in his customs and trade work logistical considerations as well as tax and transfer pricing regulations.  His focus is on valuation, preferential trading rules and export controls.

Frank chairs the Supply Chain Management Committee of Singapore’s American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham), the Regional Trade Committee of Singapore’s European Chamber of Commerce (EuroCham), is an invited member of the Singapore Customs Advisory Committee and an FTA Advisor for International Enterprise Singapore.



Mr Marc Philipp

Marc currently leads PwC's South East Asian Operations Consulting Practice as well as PwC's Singapore Management Consulting practice.

Marc has developed and worked with talented people to support companies in Asia Pacific, Europe and the US. He strives for the companies to become fit for growth by solving strategic and operational business problems, while delivering successful end to end or functional digital transformations.



Mr Abhijit Ghosh

Abhijit is an International Tax Partner leading the Pharmaceutical/Life Sciences tax practice and is the head of India Tax Desk in Singapore.

He has more than 22 years tax consultancy experience in dealing with various cross-border complex tax and business issues for MNCs and Asian companies expanding globally. In particular, he specialises on international tax planning, intellectual property structuring, incentive negotiation, M&A and post deal integration strategies, and resolving tax disputes.

Currently, he is actively involved in assisting various American, European and Japanese multinational companies as they expand their operations in Asia using Singapore as a hub. He is also instrumental in assisting a number of Indian top tier business houses to restructure and expand their businesses outside India, develop their tax efficient international operating plans and raise capital.
