Isla Lipana & Co. through the Seat of Hope program donated 200 chairs to San Juan South Elementary School in San Fernando, Pampanga on 27 March 2018.
Done through the Isla Lipana & Co. Foundation, the Seat of Hope aims to address the shortage of quality school chairs in public schools nationwide especially in far-flung areas.
San Juan South Elementary School was once a high-performing school in Pampanga until it was literally wiped out by mud flows in 1995 as a result of the Mount Pinatubo eruption. Today, the school has re-emerged at its original site through the assistance of the Department of Education, non-governmental organizations, and private donors.
The principal and teachers plan to use these chairs in their Science and Technology classes and in their convocation programs and ceremonies. The firm also donated eight pre-used laptops for the school teachers.
The school community extends their thanks to the firm and the Foundation for these donations. To date, the Foundation has donated a total of 4,198 classroom chairs to 30 public elementary and high schools in the country.
