Tax Partner Carlos Carado II spent Ninoy Aquino Day (21 August 2017) by sharing his expertise on tax with conference delegates from the Association of Certified Public Accountants in Mindanao (ACPAMIN). Close to 500 CPAs from public practice, academe, government and private institutions attended the two-day event, which was held at the Luxe Hotel, Limketkai Center, Cagayan de Oro City. The conference’s theme was “Shine Mindanao”.
Carlos lectured on the impending tax reform program of the government and how the changes would potentially impact on doing business in the Philippines. He also discussed recent Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) issuances and court cases decided by the Supreme Court and the Court of Tax Appeals. The open forum was extended to give way to more questions from the audience, who were highly appreciative of Carlos’ insights.
Carlos also informed the delegates about two of our projects for the VisMin region: the upcoming “Philippine Gems of VisMin” coffee table book, which will give a tour and hopefully the experience of selected destinations in Visayas and Mindanao; and “Reimagining VisMin” investment guides that touch on local travel and people of six VisMin cities. He invited the conference delegates to work with us in promoting these cities as both tourism and investment destinations.
PwC’s participation was made possible through the collaboration of retired Tax Partner Myrna Fernando with the host organization, the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) - Cagayan de Oro Chapter.
