Isla Lipana & Co./PwC Philippines promotes new partners

Alexander B. Cabrera, Chairman and Senior Partner of Isla Lipana & Co., the Philippine member firm of the global PwC network, is pleased to announce the admission of five partners and a principal to the partnership, with effect from 1 July 2015.

Strengthening the Assurance practice are Nelson Charsegun L. Aquino, Maria Rosell B. Santillan-Gomez, Ma. Lois M. Gregorio-Abad, and Pocholo C. Domondon; and the Tax practice with Roselle K. Yu and Harold S. Ocampo.

Nelson Aquino is admitted as an assurance partner and brings over 14 years of experience in the consumer and industrial products, technology, services (including advertising, construction and BPOs), pharmaceutical and real estate industries. His experience involves large multinational and listed companies with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)/US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) reporting, Sarbanes-Oxley compliance tests and Statement on Standards for Attestation Engagements (SSAE) No. 16 reporting. Nelson holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accountancy from De La Salle University (DLSU), Manila. He finished the Management Development Program (MDP) at the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) and Building Value Program at the Ateneo de Manila University.

Rosell Santillan-Gomez is admitted as a risk assurance services partner and brings over 14 years of experience in business process review, internal audit, information systems audit and integrated audit. Her experience includes consulting and assurance engagements across different industries, performing controls assurance, third party assurance, IT and project assurance, and operational risk management, among others. Rosell received her Bachelor of Science degree in Accountancy, Cum Laude from the Divine Word College of Legazpi. She completed her MDP at AIM and the Building Value Course at the Ateneo Professional Schools. Rosell is a licensed CPA in the Philippines and holds several information system-related professional certifications.

Lois Gregorio-Abad is admitted as an assurance partner and brings 11 years of solid assurance experience with focus on oil & gas, mining, pharmaceutical, hospitality & leisure and manufacturing industries. Her experience includes corporate reorganizations, mergers, acquisitions and disposals, as well as initial public offerings (IPOs). Lois’ technical expertise, strengthened by her secondment in PwC Singapore, is put to use as she also assumes a concurrent partner role for Accounting Consulting Services. She is a PwC in-house PFRS/IFRS lecturer and a sought-after PFRS/IFRS resource speaker in various local and international public seminars. Lois received her Bachelor of Science degree in Accountancy from DLSU, Manila. For further studies, she completed the MDP at AIM with a Superior Performance award and the Building Value Program at the Ateneo de Manila University.

Pocholo Domondon is admitted as an assurance partner. He brings 12 years of audit experience in serving listed and multinational companies with distinct expertise in mining, energy/utilities, and oil & gas. His experience extends to internal control review under Sarbanes-Oxley, due diligence, IPO, and acted as key government and industry resource person. Cholo participated in multi-location audits as the lead engagement team that coordinated with various PwC offices, and actively contributed in annual global industry publications. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Accountancy with honors from DLSU, Manila.

Roselle Yu Caraig is admitted as a tax partner and brings over 14 years of experience doing consultancy work for multinational companies in various industries. Her experience includes corporate structuring and taxation, in-bound/out-bound investment planning, domestic and cross-border acquisitions and transactions, corporate organization and reorganizations, tax audit resolutions, refund claims, securing tax rulings, and transfer pricing documentation. She works on international tax projects in collaboration with other PwC member firms, covering global acquisitions, restructurings, and transfer pricing documentation. Roselle received her bachelor’s degree in accountancy from DLSU, Manila and completed her MDP at AIM.

Harold Ocampo is admitted as a tax principal and brings over 15 years of experience in corporate incentives, corporate registration and retirement, corporate compliance and reorganization, tax treaties, tax consultancy, administrative tax refunds and tax assessments. As Senior Legal Advisor with Cabrera & Company, also a Philippine member firm of PwC, his legal experience includes advising and securing inbound working visas and work permits of expatriates, contract review, legal consultations, legal due diligence, corporate secretarial work, and representations before the Court of Tax Appeals, trial courts, appellate courts and quasi-judicial bodies. He received his Bachelor of Laws degree from San Beda College. Harold was admitted to the Philippine Bar in 2000.
