Isla Lipana & Co., through the Foundation sponsored a Shelter Project with Gawad Kalinga (GK) for the benefit of 11 families who survived the Typhoon Haiyan in Eastern Samar. The “PwC Village” was turned over to the beneficiaries during the second quarter of 2015. The funds for the Shelter Project also came from donations received from the firm employees and partners as well as PwC member firms around the world.
The firm and the foundation have also donated 150 school chairs in Alangalang Elementary School in Leyte where PwC also shared in the construction of the three-classroom school building through Philam Foundation, Inc. (PFI), the corporate responsibility arm of the Philam Group of Companies, Philam Paaralan project.
More Seat of Hope chairs were also donated to New San Juan Annex School in Sitio Maporac, Cabangan, Zambales. Situated at the heart of the Aeta community in Maporac, the school needs help as the community resolve the issue of ancestral domain and security of their lands and livelihood.
