Finance Team plants trees in Anguib Beach in Cagayan Province

The team getting ready to plant trees along Anguib Beach. Children do their part by helping Sally plant a tree.

From caring for the heart of the Philippines (Siquijor) last year, Finance team this time conquered the brain – at the northern part of the country–to be exact, the Anguib Beach in Sta. Ana, Cagayan from 30 April to 3 May.

Tourism with a purpose (TwP) this year was a new experience for the team. It made them realise the forgotten duty of being stewards of the environment and in the process help save the lives of people in the next generation. The team planted “buttoon” (native language)trees along the beach of Palaui Island. Once fully grown these trees will give shade to tourists but most importantly hold the sands in the area from erosion.

They also interacted with young ones in the community and taught them about the benefits of planting and taking good care what God has given us.

The team braved the 16-hour travel to Tuguegarao City and visited the Callao Cave, where a scene from the movie “The Mistress” was shot. They also visited the awesome Iguig Calvary Hill on the way to Sta. Ana. Best of all, they tasted the local delicacies “Pancit Batil-Patong” and “Dinakdakan”.

On their second day, the team took a 45-minute boat ride to explore the beauty of the emerging Palaui Island. Among the sceneries they visited were Cape Engaño – the best spot to view the entire island, the calming scenery of Siwangag Cove, the perfect shaped-Crocodile Island and Punta Verde – the community of Palaui people.

On their last day, they went to Nangaramoan Beach and Pozo Robo Beach, overlooking the Pacific Ocean and Anguib Beach, where they performed their corporate responsibility project.
