Raoul A. Villegas

Deals and Corporate Finance Managing Director, PwC Philippines

Deals Strategy, Value Creation, and Commercial Due Diligence Leader

As a Director in the Deals and Corporate Finance (CF) team, Raoul manages engagement teams that assist clients in mergers & acquisitions, valuation, and corporate finance transactions.  The Deals and CF team also provides independent financial advisory to clients who seek to raise debt or equity capital.

Prior to PwC, Raoul was the Group Chief Financial Officer of a PSE-listed, P20 billion investment holding company with a portfolio of holdings in the construction, education, afterlife service, real estate, automotive dealership, pharmaceuticals, and cement businesses.  In this role, he handled activities in business development, M&A, investor relations, regulatory relations, treasury, tax planning, financial planning & analysis, and financial reporting for the group.

His notable successes include heading the financial and transaction due diligence for the acquisition of a stake worth P1.5 billion in a real estate building management company; and hedging the interest rate risk on the company’s balance sheet by refinancing P3 billion of short term loans into term loans.  He also provided financial leadership to a team that established a greenfield college campus in Laguna, that achieved an enrolment in excess of 4,500 students after only 7 years in operation.

He also previously held the position of Chief Financial Officer of a private holding company, which has operations in the aviation catering, aviation groundhandling, passenger general sales agency, and cargo general sales agency businesses. His successes here included hedging the foreign exchange exposure of dollar denominated revenues, protecting profits in the millions of pesos.

He is active in the Financial Executives’ Institute of the Philippines (FINEX), the leading organization for CFO’s in the country.  He is the Chair of the Tax and Legal Committee, which handles tax advocacy matters between the business community and the national government.

He received his undergraduate degrees (BS Economics and BA in International Relations) from Lafayette College in Easton, PA.  He received his MBA in Finance from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management in Evanston, IL.
