Notice issued to importers, manufacturers and distributors

A notice dated 8 September 2020 under hand of the Customs Commissioner and Excise was circulated to Customs stakeholders and clearing agents. The notice serves as a reminder of the customs/excise duties on denatured ethyl alcohol and the registration of importers, exporters or manufacturers of the product. The duty rates have been published in Government Gazette No. 7239 of 12 June 2012 and although the notice by the Commissioner only deals with denatured ethyl alcohol, the Gazette also confirms the withdrawal of the fuel levy on kerosene (illuminating paraffin).

Tax First September 2020 issue

In this issue:

  • Reminder: The tax incentive programme regarding the use of ITAS, in the form of waiving penalties charged on tax accounts is coming to an end on the 30th of September 2020. Similarly, the submission due date of salaried individual income tax returns which has been extended from the 30th of June to the 30th of September 2020, is fast approaching.
