We are a Mauritius law firm which is part of the PwC network of firms, but operates independently from all firms in the network. We are part of the world’s largest legal services network by geography, with over 3,500 lawyers in more than 100 countries. Dispute Resolution

Our Dispute Resolution team advises on, manages and conducts all aspects of corporate, commercial and tax disputes, from strategic advice during the early stages of negotiations through to appearing before courts and arbitral tribunals. Our lawyers are sought after for their ability to handle technical and complex disputes and for being commercially minded.

Our broad experience includes representing clients in claims relating to shareholders’ rights, directors’ duties, trusts, insolvency, insurance, property,  construction, data protection, computer misuse, income tax, VAT, land transfer taxes, as well as tax avoidance assessments in relation to cross border intra-group transactions.

Corporate and Commercial

Our Corporate and Commercial team is experienced in the whole spectrum of corporate matters including M&A, structuring, corporate reorganization, company re-domiciliation, due diligence, regulatory compliance and transaction closings.

On corporate transactions, we often work with other PwC Legal teams around the world as well as the Tax, Deals and Advisory teams of PwC in Mauritius and abroad.

Financial Services

Our Financial Services team advises PE houses, management companies, insurance companies, fiduciary businesses and financial advisers involved in the financial services sector, on a wide range of matters.

We advise extensively on the structuring and setting up of financial services licensed entities as well as trusts and investment funds.

We also advise on Fintech related matters as well as innovative technology-driven financial structures, supported, where necessary, by the Technology teams of the PwC network, leaders in their field.

Employment & Immigration

Our Employment Team advises employers on the terms of their employment contracts for better legal protection while ensuring they remain compliant with their statutory obligations.

We are regularly instructed to assist on disciplinary matters, claims for unfair and constructive dismissals as well as reduction of workforce as part of corporate restructurings or closing down.

Clients also turn to us for advice on the setting up and structuring of Global Employment Companies as well as on the legal implications of secondment agreements and foreign-law governed employment contracts.

We also assist clients in relation to applications for work permits and immigration related queries.

Data Protection & Cybercrime

Our Data protection and Cybersecurity team advises clients on their legal obligations under data protection laws and the GDPR and accompany them in the implementation of the changes required to ensure such compliance.

We often work alongside the Technology team of PwC who assesses the non-compliance of the systems and technologies that our clients use and advises them on how to improve them.

We have also advised clients on cybercrime complaints and the civil and criminal liability implications of such crimes.

Our Real Estate & Construction team is experienced in advising property developers as well as foreign property investors from project inception through to closing.

We also have expertise in construction law and advise clients on the negotiation of construction and related contracts including FIDIC, as well as being able to assist them in resolving their dispute amicably or before the Courts or arbitral tribunals.

Anne-Sophie is the Managing Partner at PwC Legal. She is a practising Barrister at the Mauritius and English Bar as well as a non-practising Barrister at the Paris Bar. She has 15 years’ standing at the Bar, the first 9 years of which were spent working in the London office of leading American law firms.

Rajiv Gujadhur​

Rajiv is a Barrister Associate Director within PwC Legal in Mauritius. He leads the Corporate M&A practice of the firm. He has 15 years’ of experience, 10 years of which were spent working as a transaction lawyer for a leading local law firm during which he specialised in the corporate, financial services and capital markets fields.

Ashveen Gopee

Ashveen is a Barrister Associate Director at PwC Legal in Mauritius. He was admitted to the Bar of England & Wales in 2005 and to the Mauritius Bar in 2006. Ashveen also qualified as an electro-mechanical engineer from the University of Cape Town. As such, he has experience in machine code programming.
