National lockdown in Mauritius until 30 April 2021
Mauritius had successfully stamped out the community spread of COVID-19 in 2020 and the population resumed an almost ‘normal’ life. However, in response to the resurgence of local cases in Mauritius, the Minister of Health and Safety announced on Wednesday 10 March 2021 a national lockdown, and this is expected to be maintained until 30 April 2021.
Only essential services are authorised to operate under predefined conditions. During the lockdown and until further notice, the PwC Centre will not be open for business, events and client meetings during this period. However, our teams continue to work closely with our clients on an individual basis to meet their needs.
At PwC Mauritius, we had proactively reinstated our Work-From-Home (WFH) policy since Monday 08 March, as a safeguard measure. We are confident that the lockdown will have a minimal impact on our clients as we remain committed to safeguarding their interests through the ISO 22301:2012 framework that ensures a thorough end-to-end review of our business continuity system and processes, enabling all our 400+ employees to work from home safely and securely. They are fully equipped with the necessary facilities and remain reachable by email or softphone.
The health and safety of our employees remain our priority. We are managing the situation in real time and all our decisions are taken in order to reduce the health risk for our employees, customers and collaborators while maintaining the continuity of our services.
We would like to reiterate to our clients and stakeholders that the use of digital channels is the most efficient form of communication during this time, and we encourage you to remain in touch with your portfolio manager via email or by telephone.
Please stay informed of the latest developments and actions undertaken with regards to COVID-19 through regular communication on our website, our social media, and communiqués. We will do our best during this difficult time to provide you with high quality services.
With lessons learned from the previous lockdown and the ongoing vaccination campaign, we are confident that the COVID-19 situation in Mauritius will soon be under control.
Assess the potential impact to your business and gauge your readiness to respond
PwC’s team of specialists collaborated to create a digital assessment to help you understand the potential impact to your business and gauge your readiness to respond.
The digital tool contains 3 sections of questions that will help you understand where your company stands as you respond to COVID-19 in the areas of: crisis management and response; workforce; operations and supply chain; finance and liquidity; tax and trade; and strategy and brand.
