The PwC VAT Conference 2023

The PwC VAT Conference 2023, held on Friday, 2 June, was a highly successful event that focused on the future of VAT. The conference touched on a variety of relevant topics that have significant implications for businesses in both local and international contexts.

The conference acted as a platform for industry experts to share and discuss valuable insights on key VAT-related topics allowing businesses to stay up-to-date and adapt to the ever-evolving VAT landscape.

PwC Tech Week

PwC’s Tech Week kicked off with ‘Reshaping the future of Tech’ on 15 May by dedicating the day to students eager to explore the tech future. The constant disruption caused by technology, leads to a growing demand for tech-savvy talent. PwC Malta’s event aimed to be an eye-opener for students to better understand what their studies will lead them to when they step into the world of work.

The highlight of the week was the two-day Intelligent Digital conference held on 16 and 17 May. The conference was all about technological innovation, featuring discussions on digital transformation, business applications and use cases, mainly for CEOs. The second day of the conference was  more tailored towards CTOs, with a specific focus on digital infrastructure, storage, cybersecurity, data privacy, and other technical topics.

The ‘Digital in Action’ day was dedicated to different thematic sessions at PwC's Academy. The agenda offered business and technology leaders the opportunity to witness technology in action, allowing them to gain insight on how digital areas and emerging technologies will help drive their businesses forward in the foreseeable future.

The final day of Tech Week consisted of a joint event with The Malta Chamber on the Customer Experience in the Digital Age. This was done through two brief presentations, subsequently followed by a panel discussion related to the customer experience.

The ABC of VAT

The PwC Academy course, ABC of VAT is wrapped up into eight 2-hour sessions focused solely on understanding VAT. Seven sessions were held online, while the final session was held physically at The Hub.

The main elements explored through this course revolved predominantly around understanding VAT legislations and determining the VAT treatment of different transactions. This with the scope of strengthening both individual as well as business VAT knowledge and ensuring necessary compliance.
