In brief

Effective 1 April 2018 the UAE government has suspended the requirement for applicants to procure a Good Conduct Certificate/Police Clearance Certificate in support of their UAE visa application.

In detail

The requirement to procure a legalised Good Conduct Certificate/Police Clearance Certificate in support of UAE visa applications was introduced in February 2018, however as of 1 April 2018 the UAE government has suspended this requirement until further notice. The suspension applies to all visa applications submitted after 1 April 2018 in the mainland UAE and freezones and includes applications already in progress with the authorities.

The takeaway

This is welcome news for some employers as many individuals were finding it difficult to procure a certificate without this impacting processing times.
